Music to my ears

Music has always played an important role in my life including working in diverse areas such as Music Theatre, Cabaret, Jazz, Swing, Funk, Pop, Acid Jazz, and they are the styles that first come to mind.  Music can play many roles in expression whether it is motivation, stimulation, ‘to soothe the savage beast’ in you, romance, anger, passion, escape and the list goes on.  In my years playing I have shared the stage with some amazing people, emulated some and wish to have reached the heights that others have achieved.  What I take from music it gives back to me ten-fold.  So where does the link to interiors come?  Capture a piece of music with your eyes closed and you can’t help but visualise.  It may take you to a time in your life when you first heard the song but also to a physical place.  Pull the image apart and take in all the senses.  A piece of classical music takes me to a Viennese Chateau; even though I’ve ever been I can see the details, walk through the halls and almost touch the fabrics.  A great blues number and I’m in a speak-easy in New Orleans kicking back and feeling I can just cruise through life.  Take these experiences and then imagine what type of music ‘speaks’ to your home and your interior.
