THE ADVENTURES OF HDAWG AND HPUP, DAY 1

As Chronicled by Shaynna Blaze

Oh what fun we had!!! To save you trawling through Facebook here is a summary of the boys on day one!

Hdawg & Hpup are behaving themselves as we get ready for their adventure.

Hdawg is looking at me as though asking ‘so who are you?’ & Hpup is distracted by his ball.

Coco is NOT happy. Territory issues I think.

Hdawg & Hpup stowing in my luggage. Let’s see if can get them in the Virgin Australia lounge
Success! Doggie Buscotti at Virgin Lounge.

Hdawg was enjoying the plane till….

He felt a little airsickness – I think he is still a little home sick actually.

But Hpup being the feisty little pup he is kept tapping away at the computer. SO annoying!!!

But it all went well as the pilot let them scamper in the cockpit when they landed!

No, not losing my mind everyone just having fun with the ‘boys’! They are a little tired now though.
Hdawg all dry after his bubble bath, now time for Hpup if I could JUST get that ball off him…

No Hdawg they are for the big people. (he starting to think he is human, think I’m spoiling them too much)

Well we got all this way with out any upsets and what causes the drama? The remote! Confiscated and lights out. Night all!!!

Stay tuned to find out where you can buy your own Hdawg and Hpup!

A WRONG TURN IS A GOOD THING

When I was in Sydney the other looking for props for a shoot, Alex and I had just left Mitchell Rd Auctions to go to a coffee shop to discuss the next shoot and we took the wrong turn (in fact we just went straight ahead and forgot to turn) and ended up at this gorgeous shop!!!

A sweet 'garden' setting greets you at the front of the shop.
Where do you start????

Now I know Samantha Robinson’s range but I hadn’t been to their studio before so this was such a nice surprise.  Alex and I fell in love instantly and she bought a couple of things for her Mum, I bought something for myself and was about to visit my daughter and bought her something too!

I got a couple of these cute 'watermelon' bowls for my daughter.
I really wanted this bowl but was too big for me to take home on the plane!!!

The girls there were so chilled and were lost in their creative world as they connected with the porcelain in front of them.  I chatted to them how fantastic it was to see them made right before our eyes and they gave me back the perfect response, “and made with love”.

"Made with love"

As our purchases were being wrapped not only did we feel great we were giving them with love but now knew they were made with love.  Keep this in mind when buying your next present, it feels good inside.

Love how the patterns of the china creep onto the display like vines.

Oh yes, a wrong turn can sometimes be a good thing!

UPDATE:  after being on twitter for a couple of hours Matthew @m_mupfa hot-tailed it to the store and picked up this gorgeous vase!  ( he was going for my gorgeous bowl, but was too big, still hope for me yet!!)

These vases can be used also with a tealight - thanks for the pic Matthew!

The Adventures of #Hdawg and #Hpup

For three days I am taking two little cuties out for an adventure.  They live in the comfortable estate of HermonandHermon in Richmond waiting for someone to give them a home.  Now I can’t take them on as I can’t give them the attention they need but I am going to be like their favourite Aunt and take them on an adventure for a couple of days to Sydney.  I will be acting as their legal guardians through this time as they are going on a photo shoot and every minor needs a chaperone.

How can you resist a puppy in the window!

Over the next few days I will put on my Facebook page pics of the fun we get up to!

See you there!!

PAPER SCULPTURE WITH BOOK PAGES

My PA, (and good friend) Andy is a DIY queen and is forever ‘crafting’ up a storm when boredom sets in.  To tell you the truth, I do get a little nervous when I know she has a few spare minutes as I know she is about to whip up some creation and have no where to put it!  So when she saw the Paper Sculpture that Alex did on Selling Houses Australia she was almost frothing at the mouth waiting for the instructions.

With in an hour of getting the instructions she sent me her pics, and I am not exaggerating!  So here is her take on the paper sculpture, brought to you from……

ANDY’S CRAFTY CORNER

“I found some  half inch grid wire I had lying around…. (me; yes she has everything!)

an old book and drew the shape I wanted from a dinner plate

onto the wire with a sharpie pen

cut the wire into the shape I wanted (a circle) used the stanley knife & ripped the pages from the book
and started putting them into the wirethen i tried to staple the paper from the back together (this was unsuccessful) so i ended up just rolling & poking them throughThen I discovered that I didn’t have enough paper from the old book left to do an entire circleSo i cut the wire off into a sort of rectangular shape , put a bit of wire for a hook, and voila….instant wall hanging thingy !!”In under an hour I think this is pretty great so I asked her to hang it on the wall and send me a pic.  This is the response:

“well, when I hung it up all the cones fell out so now I think it will be a great table sculpture, but the biggest issue the dust.

But then, I don’t dust”

Does anyone else have their version of the paper sculpture?  Success or failures are great to share.

PAPER SCULPTURE POST BY POPULAR DEMAND

WOW, what a reaction to the paper sculpture on the Neutral Bay episode!.  As I said before my gorgeous assistant Alex whipped this together as we couldn’t find the perfect textural piece for the room.  It was the talk of the interior on the day so no wonder it has been the talk on my Blog, Facebook & Twitter!!

Alex taking a 'shaded' lunch break on a shoot we were doing the other day.

Alex has written the instructions for you to follow yourself and give it a go.  If it is too much for you she is doing them herself to purchase at a price of $235.00 plus delivery. If you are wanting one made, contact us at info@blankcanvasint.com

The talking piece of the interior!

I am hoping all of you who give it a go will post it on my Facebook page to see how great they look!!!

Ok – here we go!!!

PAPER SCULPTURE
What you need
1 x piece of A3 Foam core (can be bigger or small depending on how big you want the
sculpture to be)
A compass or large dinner plate
1 x Stanley knife or scalpel
1 x Pack of A4 sheets of white paper
1 x Pot of Clag or PVA glue
1 x small piece of thick cardboard (about 8cm long and 1.5cm high)
1 x Staple Gun
Instructions
1. Take compass or dinner plate and draw/ trace a circle onto the foam core.
2. Using stanley knife or scalpel, carefully cut around the line you have just drawn.
3. Place the small piece of cardboard on the back of the circle about 15cm from the top
and glue down into position. Secure each end with staple gun. This will be where you
hang it from
4. Next start by rolling the paper into trumpet like shapes and glue them together. Be
adventurous- roll full paper sheets, tear the edges of some using only half paper sheets
etc etc
5. When you have a few made up start from the edge of the circle and work your way into
the middle of the circle gluing down each trumpet as you go. Dont be scared to overlap!!
Keep going until all areas of the foam core cant be seen.
6. When you are happy with the end product, let it dry for at least 48hrs before hanging.
Then it will be ready to go!

Selling Houses Australia & what I ‘really’ did.

Last nights ep in Neutral Bay was amazing!!! And I can say that as it was all about the incredible garden transformation Charlie did in the backyard.

Haven’t seen it?  Go to LifeStyle website and been blown away.

Me, it was like a little holiday!  The house was stunning and its only problem was the spiral staircase so my job was all about ‘smoke & mirrors’ in trying to make it disappear.  But this case it was more about ‘paint and lights’.  There was so little for me to do that I was even allowed to add a few touches to the front courtyard as Charlie had more than enough on his plate with the back yard. The owner, Nicole was pretty easy going but when I lifted the lid to show her the paint colour for the chairs, her reaction was priceless. The colour has now been dubbed ‘bull@%#t red’ on twitter! Hilarious! The interiors were a such an easy time for us I even took time out to feed the boys!

Alright, I cheated but I made the effort with the apron!
Yes Charlie is tough but can't resist a bit of a sugary treat!
Sawdust and cupcakes - the boys couldnt get enough!

Cake must have been the flavour of the day as that night I went to the launch of Planet Cake (hope they do a second series!)

YES IT IS A CAKE UNDER THERE!!!!
Paris Cutler and Nicole Sheffield cutting the cake!

And for that gorgeous wall sculpture everyone was loving- my fantastic Assistant Alex made it!  She found it from an old craft magazine and gave it a go.For all the before and after pics of this ep click here.

Can you believe this was made from strips of A4 paper!

Twitter is always so active when the show airs for instant chat and use the hashtag #sellinghousesaus but don’t forget to got to my Facebook page for so much more interior chats!!! Hope to see you there!
