I LIKE TO COLOUR!

Unlike Samantha’s innuendo on Sex and The City 1 – I really DO like to colour.  But I do think these tools might make the task a little difficult – so then it might be time to de-stress and COLOUR like in SATC!

Tulle Defying Gravity

Art for interiors and fashion are all about pushing the envelope and pushing the boundaries of what you can get your materials to do.  This fashion shoot by Josh Olins of for Dazed & Confused’s February 2010 edition shows that these dresses aren’t created for their practical use but to stimulate excitement and buzz.  Which it certainly does!

NOT YOUR TYPICAL URBAN HOUSE

WHEN A TERRACE HOUSE IS NOT A TERRACE HOUSE

This amazing renovation in Fitzroy by Melbourne by Architects Kavellaris Urban Design keeps the idea of tradition to compliment the surrounding houses and gives it a modern twist with its perforated exterior.

The solid glass ballustrade offers safety without compromising the view
The theme carries through in the interior doorsIf you have forgotten you are in the ‘burbs’- maybe a little artwork to remind you where you are!

CREATE ART WITH YOUR BUTTONS

Devotion
Mixed media found object installation at Haines Annex, San Francisco, CA
Dimensions variable, 1991

We all love to recycle and create from what is lying around but this amazing artist
Lisa Kokin has gone to the next level and created art that is not only unique but inspiring. She creates individual sculptures as well as art gallery installations and then when you think she cant get anymore creative she brings out a book. Not the written kind but the creative kind.
I love her work and imagine if she doesn’t already wear glasses she might have to in the future with the intricate works she produces.

DECORATING FOR A RENTAL PROPERTY

This gallery contains 0 photos.

Renting can make you feel transient and not feeling like you belong but -’Where ever we lay our hat -it has to be home’. When you are renting you can feel restricted by the do’s and don’t's of your rental agreement, leaving fear about doing anything at all to personalise your home. It is all about thinking ‘off the wall’ and creating a space that makes you happy whether you own it or not.

Invest in lighting that is all about texture and shadows.
Easels to give you freedom to put your artwork anywhere
Fresh flowers and plants not only for their looks but their added fragrance and calming presence

EXTREME BODY ART

WARNING – some of these links hold extreme pictures so only click at your own risk (and stomach).

Our body for centuries have been used as a forum for expression for religious and cultural rituals and beliefs. Large neck rings, tattoos and tribal piercing to name a few. As the fast and overpopulated world leaves us with less opportunities of being heard and being lost among the crowd, expression as a fashion and art statement is being hailed within certain groups and circles. But is it a pure fad that will later leave the wearer scarred with regret?
